At NEXIS School of Business, some sessions teach you frameworks.
Others teach you perspective.
The recent webinar with Raghav Jhawar – Co-founder & CEO of Your Growth Labs, and founder of Shark Tank–backed brand The State Plate, was one of those sessions that stayed with students long after the screen went dark.
Not because it was flashy.
But because it was honest.
It All Started with a Papad
Raghav began with a story that instantly made everyone smile.
Lockdown 2.0.
No Rajasthani papad at home.
A ₹200 delivery fee for something so basic.
That small inconvenience sparked a much bigger question – why is authentic regional food so hard to access?
That question became The State Plate.
No tech background.
No startup playbook.
Just curiosity, frustration, and the courage to start.
Building Before You’re Ready
Raghav shared how, in the early days, there was no automation or fancy software.
He personally mapped delivery routes in Bengaluru by hand, staying up till 3 AM just to optimise for one delivery partner.
“It wasn’t glamorous,” he admitted.
“But it taught me how businesses really work.”
That honesty hit home for many students, especially those who believe startups begin with perfect ideas and funding. Raghav showed that most startups actually begin with confusion, late nights, and stubborn persistence.
Shark Tank, Growth, and the Exit
From serving over 1.8 lakh customers, to raising funding from Antler India and Peyush Bansal on Shark Tank India, The State Plate grew into a nationally recognised brand.
And earlier this year, it was acquired.
But what Raghav emphasised wasn’t the exit, it was the journey.
“Out of 100 days, 90 are hard,” he said.
“But those 10 days of real joy make it worth it.”
For students at NEXIS, this wasn’t just a startup story. It was a reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t about overnight success, it’s about staying in the game.
From Founder to Growth Builder
Today, Raghav is building his next venture, Your Growth Labs, a data-driven growth partner helping consumer brands scale on quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto.
He explained how quick commerce has completely changed how brands grow, and how there are no ready-made playbooks anymore.
The solution?
Build them.
With a sharp focus on P&L, operations, ads intelligence, and AI-led insights, Your Growth Labs is helping brands grow faster, smarter, and more sustainably.
“Don’t Overthink. Just Do.”
One line from the session stood out across student reflections:
“Don’t overthink. Just do.”
In a world where ideas often die in notebooks and Notes apps, Raghav reminded everyone that action creates clarity, not the other way around.
You don’t need to start big.
You just need to start.
Why This Session Mattered at NEXIS
For students pursuing modern business education in Siliguri and East India, this session was proof that:
- You don’t need a metro-city background to build something meaningful
- You don’t need a tech degree to enter tech-enabled businesses
- You don’t need perfect timing – just intent and effort
At NEXIS, learning isn’t limited to textbooks or case studies. It’s about hearing real stories from people who’ve built, struggled, failed, learned, and grown, and are still figuring things out.
And Raghav Jhawar’s journey was a powerful reminder of exactly that.
Sometimes, all it takes to change your future…
is one small problem, and the courage to solve it.
