From Christmas Lights to Customer Conversations: A NEXMAS Story

Christmas usually means lights, music, and shopping bags.

But on 24th and 25th December, at Siliguri’s biggest Christmas celebration – the Casa Christmas Market at The Grand Casa Hotel, NEXIS students showed up with a very different plan.

They didn’t come to shop.
They came to sell.

As part of the Dropshipping Challenge (Outclass), students from NEXIS School of Business took their e-commerce ventures out of spreadsheets and classrooms and placed them right in front of real customers.

No simulations.
No practice rounds.
Just real people, real money, and real decisions.

Learning That Doesn’t Wait for Graduation

For two full days, students stood behind stalls as business owners.

They pitched products again and again.
Adjusted pricing on the spot.
Handled rejections gracefully.
Smiled through awkward moments.
And celebrated the small thrill of every sale.

This wasn’t a field visit.
It was a test of confidence, communication, and clarity.

In between Christmas lights and weekend crowds, students learned lessons that no lecture can teach, how customers think, how fast decisions are made, and how important it is to stay calm when someone walks away without buying.

At one stall, kids loved the products. Parents didn’t.
A quiet “chalo, chalo” and they were gone.

The students laughed, regrouped, and tried again.

That’s business.
Uncomfortable, funny, tough and incredibly real.

From Childhood Christmases to Running a Stall

Many of us grew up cutting Christmas cakes, decorating trees, and visiting markets as children.

This year, NEXIS students experienced Christmas from the other side – as sellers, negotiators, and entrepreneurs.

By evening, something clicked.

What works.
What doesn’t.
What customers respond to.
And what needs to change tomorrow.

Santa had gifts.
The market had lessons.

And that’s exactly how business education in Siliguri is meant to feel at NEXIS.

Christmas on Campus: Slowing Down, Together

Back on campus on 24th December, Christmas arrived in true NEXIS style.

The campus was decorated.
Music played softly.
Santa showed up (unexpectedly).
Games broke ice – for once, successfully.

There were chits, guessing games, Santa vs Elves, laughter echoing across halls, and friendly competition that didn’t need a reason.

For a few hours, work paused – but people didn’t.

It was a reminder that while students at NEXIS build hard, they also celebrate together. Growth here isn’t just professional, it’s personal.

What This Says About NEXIS

Moments like these define what makes NEXIS one of the most forward-thinking business schools in Siliguri and East India.

Here, students don’t wait for placements to feel confident.
They don’t wait for graduation to apply learning.
They don’t learn business only from slides.

They live it – in markets, on campus, and in real conversations.

And with Early Bird Admissions for the next cohort closing on 31st January, 2026, this is exactly the kind of learning environment new students step into from day one.

Final Thought

Christmas at NEXIS wasn’t just festive.
It was meaningful.

Between stalls and Santa hats, pitches and pauses, students learned what business really feels like – messy, human, and deeply rewarding.

That’s not holiday fun.
That’s education done right.

And that’s the NEXIS way. 🎄✨
